About Nanette

The Backstory

I lived a childhood that was filled with my mother’s hopes, dreams and expectations - none of which matched mine.

I was passionate about the dance world and had a scholarship at Alvin Ailey that I gave up because of constant migraines. Channeled my creative energy and love of films at NYU. Became a filmmaker to tell amazing stories and try to make an impact in the world.

My mother died when I was 32 of breast cancer that metastasized to her liver. It was clear to me that I didn’t want to be as angry and feel as unfulfilled as she did at the end of her life.

I got pregnant a few months after her death. It was emotionally difficult for me to balance my feelings of joy with my feelings of sadness and anger that my mother was no longer in my life. I gained 52 pounds. After I gave birth, I was committed to lose the weight, get back into shape and find out who I was without my mother.

Through decades of trials and tribulations, I have discovered that certain actions work to keep me balanced:

I have made working out an everyday staple in my life.

I am committed to eating an organic, plant based, whole food diet.

I have learned not to hold my anger in and how to communicate my feelings.

I always try to find humor in my everyday life

I am open to new ideas and possibilities.

I accept that self knowledge and self love is a life long process.

Why I'm a Health Coach

I love to inspire people. It’s  why I went to film school. I wanted to make films that inspired people.  I have always been fascinated by inspirational people. What makes them  do what no one else is doing? What pushes them to go beyond what everyone else has done? Who are they?

Here’s a sample

This is what I learned:

1) They have a vision

2) They take really good care of themselves

3) They can’t help but inspire others

4) They are grateful for all that they do have

I became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach because I wanted to do more to accelerate positive change in people’s lives

This is What I Live

  • Be mindful of what you eat, drink, think & put on your skin — Organic veggies & fruits, hormone free, pasture raised dairy, meats, fowl, wild caught fish, no chemicals or additives.
  • Drink half your body weight in water a day.
  • Be mindful of your thoughts, you get whatever you constantly think about.
  • Use clean personal care products. Your skin absorbs whatever you put on it in 26 seconds!
