I cannot express enough about the vital change of my life direction since working with my INCREDIBLE health coach, Nanette Thylan. Aside from fueling myself smarter, getting stronger, boosting my energy and performing better in every aspect of my life, I experienced profound and lasting change on not just a physical level but a core emotional and spiritual one as well.
Nanette provided me with the much-needed support and compassionate guidance I didn’t know I needed.
I was burned out physically and emotionally when she entered my life. Not just to guide my eating choices but Nanette clarified what drove my choices, extending into the many areas of my professional and personal life. I believed I could do it all – alone. I was WRONG.
I was eating well but experienced lackluster energy and daily slumps. I was in a state of denial of myself. I don’t suffer from any physical diseases (thank God) but gaining awareness through Nanette’s invaluable guidance steered me clear of problems that are all too common in our modern society.
Losing my parents (my mother to cancer when I was 12 and then my father a few years ago), being a full-time professional artist, managing my husband’s art studio as well as being his full time caregiver due to a terminal illness, drained me of the essential observance from the outside that I needed. Alone and self-reliant much of my life, I was not used to asking for help.
Nanette brought several essential ‘tools’ that I now use to manage the anxiety, stress and burn-out I experienced on a daily basis and previously assumed was ‘normal.’ It wasn’t.
Her empathetic, non-judgmental approach opened my eyes.
Detailed, hard-working and driven by a passion to help others is what makes Nanette Thylan stand out in her profession.
My medical doctors never offered the profound advice she gave me.
I found myself facing the ‘one-size fits all’ approach in our conventional medical system.
‘Eat less, exercise more’ I was told to combat the few pesky pounds that I gained during the pandemic.
‘Oh, you’re in perimenopause so your symptoms of fatigue and energy slumps occur at your age.’
‘Your menstrual discomfort is normal at this stage of life.’
In other words, accept it, I was told by the MD’s I consulted.
Not so with Nanette!
I have always been tough on myself. Worked out constantly (and therefore always sore and often tired). Tried every diet out there. Fasted until I thought I was going to faint just because a number of slim celebrities said it worked for them.
Why wasn’t I a size 4?! Nanette said losing weight is not the point. It’s well-being.
Then, I realized thanks to Nanette's help – I’m not overweight. I’m overwhelmed.
Fatigue, mental fog and overall lethargy were a battle for me. I skew towards hypothyroidism, a tell-tale sign of overloaded adrenal glands. No doctor ever explained this to me! I viewed stress as a privilege, not an affliction. Nanette's tools of meditation, journaling, breathwork, meal preps and thoughtful boundary-setting are now a way of life for me. (You can read about how to use these tools from many online sources but doing the work myself with Nanette’s encouragement is empowering and I would never have made them a daily part of my life otherwise.)
Nanette helped me to appreciate my body. My goal is her goal: wellness on every level.
We continue to work together because the demands of my life at times can shift me out of positive patterns into negative ones. My husband’s terminal illness plagues our lives but with Nanette’s ‘tools’ to cope, I can turn to a place of inner peace and harmony. Stress never stops. How it affects one can shift you out of survival mode to thrive mode with Nanette’s help.
My self-awareness towards one of self-care is an exciting journey. The freedom to explore these avenues with Nanette as the guide is an opportunity EVERYONE should take advantage of.
Doctors are specialized. They are schooled in their departments. The end.
No one I found in the medical industry put the pieces together. Jumping from one doctor to another in my experience led to confusion and bafflement.
That’s where Nanette enters: to guide with an oversight to empower and become your own advocate by enlisting lasting lifestyle changes. I’ve changed not just my dietary habits but my emotional ones as well.
Nanette’s extensive studies and insights continue to make profound and impactful progress in my life. People who I haven't seen in months now comment how I look better, minus the worry that often blanketed my face.
The universe sent her to me to save my life from one of life-force-drained towards one of everlasting positivity.
Thank you for asking me to write a testimonial for your health services. It's an honor to let the world know how gifted, kind, and knowledgeable you are.
I have known Nan Thylan for more than 25 years. She has always been interested in and a practitioner of healthy habits - from diet and exercise to relationships and the arts.
Recently I found myself asking Nan for advice and help with my weight and health. I'm in my early 70's and have chronic IBS and Crohn's Disease. My cardiologist read me the riot act after recent blood tests indicated serious weight loss and better diet management were in order.
Bearing in mind that losing weight and changing eating habits is a very sensitive subject, rest assured, Nan is the least judgmental person you will ever discuss this with. She is caring, sensitive, encouraging, and a great cheerleader. She has copious suggestions and ideas to help you make dietary changes, adjustments, trigger creative recipes, and get you excited about trying new foods or favorite foods in new ways.
One of the funniest, but impactful statements Nan made to me happened when I admitted to my "addiction" to Costco muffins. Her response was a gentle, but heartfelt, "Oh Mar, those are poison!" I laughed out loud and she went on to explain how the ingredients used are terrible for our bodies. The interaction and visual image this created for me has never left and I now walk down food isles telling myself not to purchase items that are "poison" for my body with complete ease..
I'm happy to share that over approximately 6 months I have lost 30 pounds and I know I can lose the final 10-15 by spring/summer. It's been an encouraging experience of transitioning from self deprecation to self satisfaction at experiencing slow but reliably steady results guided by and celebrated with Nan.
I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Nan. She will remain loyal to you, your goals, your efforts, and your struggles.
